More on Specify 5.0 install

Hi Specifiers -
We took the plunge this morning on converting our real database. We are running off a networked sql server box. In this configuration, one can pretty much forget all of the MSDE install stuff, and just connect directly to the server. It IS important however to upgrade the sql server box to SP4, which our Sys Admin did for us.
The install went very smoothly. I installed on my desktop first and converted the data to Specify 5.0. This went quickly except for the "higher precision numeric storage" which took about 10 minutes for a 32,000+ collection object database.
One of the desktop installs was a Win2000, and it went just fine. No problem (so far) using Specify 5.0 on Win2k.
I have now installed it on 4 desktops without issue. We have entered in new data successfully. I am currently building the express seach indexes and they are going surprisingly fast. The slowest is our collection objects index, which took about 40 mins. All of the other indexes were less then 5 mins. When building indexes from a sql server it is important to build the indexes ON THE SQL SERVER, not your local hard drive. You will need admin rights on the SQL SERVER to do this.
Great job, Specify Team! This is the most painless upgrade to date!!
Paul VS
