Beginning with Specify 5.2, we are issuing a Specify Installation and Setup Guide separate from the User Manual.

If you are new to Specify and have not already done so,  review the Specify Site Installation Options page to understand your installation options.  The User Manual is available with the installation of Specify and on this web site.  The information on the Installation Options page and in the Specify Installation and Setup Guide also apply to Specify 5.2.1, 5.2.2 and 5.2.3 installs.

UPDATE:  Microsoft has released SQL Server 2008 which is now their current version of that product.  Specify 5.x is not compatible with SQL Server 2008, please continue to use SQL Server 2005 Express Edition for new Specify database installations.  The URL for SQl Server 2005 in the Specify Installation and Setup Guide is no longer valid, the new Microsoft URL for SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is:
